12 Misconceptions about Kashmir India have

12 Misconceptions about Kashmir India have.

Kashmir has been one of the most misunderstood parts of the country. There are a lot of misconceptions about J&K most of which have been created by media. I experienced these things lining outside the State for my studies:

  1. There are only Mountains in Kashmir: Kashmir is surrounded by beautiful mountains with the most beautiful scenery but that doesn’t mean we are mountain dwellers. There are people who live on the mountains but sorry to break it to you but all Kashmiris don’t live on mountains. Kashmir is a valley surrounded by Mountains. We have paddy fields, Green Belts, colleges, markets like any other places in the country. Yes, on the hilly areas as well.
  1. You need Passport/Visa to visit Kashmir: India keep on saying that Kashmir is an integral part of India. Then why would you need a passport to visit us? A plane/train/bus ticket will do. And if Kashmir is Free then you might require one J. And FYI Kashmiri don’t need passport to travel to china or Pakistan.

  1. Militants Live in homes of Kashmiri: I have personally met people saying that you guys live with Militants we must have witnessed many militant attacks. They think Jammu and Kashmir is the most dangerous place to be. And there are militants roaming freely on the roads. Well the actual fact is you will find forces on every corner. The actual city roads are perfectly safe and see a peaceful life most of the times unless there are Army encounters in the city. Things like this happen in the most of the Indian states also. Honestly, Kashmiris are more scared of army than militants.

  1. Kashmiris are Very poor: This one is cool???  Like seriously? Our one house is enough to accommodate your entire colony/sector. Not to forget the Persian culture we follow, the kitchen area full of copper vessels. And Kashmir is only state where no one dies of Hunger.

  1. There’s a AK47 in every house:  Yes, we do have a gun in almost every house.

Toy guns, if they count as guns. Our kids play with them and so do YOURS. Holding unlicensed arms and ammunition is illegal in J&K unlike India where you can Shoot bullets on Diwali or some ceremony freely.

  1. Kashmir is Muslim Only State: Kashmir has Hindus, Sikh, Christians, who live in close communion with each other and they too speak Kashmiri because they are Kashmiiris too 😛

  7. Kashmiris are Uneducated: Highest no of doctors in USA are Kashmiris Don’t you know Twitter’s political     head, Raheel Khurshid, is a Kashmiri? Have you forgotten the 2009 IAS topper Shah Faesal? Even the Uneducated tourist guides can speak better English than any good political leader of India. #NAMO

  1. Kashmiri are red and fair because they eat apples: Woow This one is Epic, Yes Apples are grown in Kashmir and are considered best in world. BTW if you think Apples make you red Kashmiris are best Suppliers of Apples you can buy from us.

  1. Jammu is Kashmir and Srinagar is not Kashmir: Bazinga!!! Jammu is just a division and district of J&K and Kashmir is bigger division of many districts. And Jammu and Srinagar are two capitals of Kashmir for winter and summer respectively. It takes billions of rupees to shift the capital session as it 300 KM away and travel time of 8-10 hours by road.
  1. Women are suppressed like in Afghanistan:Women here are covered because they are Islamic and cultured not suppressed. Being covered has nothing to do with suppression. Kashmiris consider girls as a blessing we have hospitals on name of Women like Lal ded. You’ll find them in schools, colleges, work-places doing Business. Also, women have a say, be it household or other matters.
And Yes Kashmiri Women are Created beautiful by God and they have right to cover their beauty from Indian beasts who raped Asia and Nelofer.

Unlike Delhi or India, Kashmir is very safest for girls.

  1.  It always Snow in Kashmir hence cold: Kashmir is cool not cold in summers. It’s cold in winters but not to such an extent that it won’t let you work. And yes Jammu has never seen snow and it is more like Delhi in Summers and Winters both.

  1. Every Kashmiri Living Outside Kashmir is Shawal Wala: No, there are people who live outside Kashmir for studies, jobs and Business. And Frankly Not every Indian can afford the Real Pashmina shawal from a Sahwal wala as it costs in Lacs

Come and pay a visit and I am sure you don’t have to apply for Passport of Visa.
