Over a dozen people were injured, one of them critically, in clashes that erupted in various areas of South Kashmir after Friday prayers.
A youth sustained critical pellet injuries in the forces’ action in Kakapora area of Pulwama.
He has been referred to Srinagar for advanced treatment.
Reports said that violent clashes erupted in Kaimoh and adjoining – Khudwani, Redwani and Rampora villages after Friday prayers.
“Youth pelted stones on the forces who in turn lobbed tear canisters and fired pellets to disperse them,” reports said.
They said that at least six people sustained injuries in the forces’ action.
Clashes also erupted near Ziyarat road in Kulgam town.
However, there were no reports of any injuries.
An effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also reportedly set ablaze by the protesters.
