First Ever Open Air Theatre In Dal Lake Inaugurated in Dal Lake.

Dal Lake witnessed the opening of first ever Open Air Theatre in Srinagar, as part of  ‘Iconic Week’ celebration.

The open air theatre the first of its kind was inaugurated by Chief Secretary, Arun Kumar Mehta on Friday.

Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor, Nitishwar Kumar; Principal Secretary, H&UDD, Dheeraj Gupta; Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole; Secretary Tourism and Culture, Sarmad Hafeez and Director Tourism, G N Itoo were also present on the occasion.

The dignitaries along with other guests watched “Kashmir ki Kali” movie telecast on open air theatre.

Earlier, Chief Secretary inaugurated laser show at Ghat Number- 7, where a short film on history of houseboats in Kashmir was also telecasted on an open houseboat.

The dignitaries also inspected the gallery displaying old testimonials, periodicals and photographs depicting old pictures houseboats in river Jhelum and Dal Lake, Kashmiri Culture and traditional cuisine.

On the occasion, a shikara rally adorned and shining with lights passed through Nehru Park to Kabootar Khana with local artists singing and dancing Kashmiri songs which enthralled guests and all passersby through the Boulevard road.

A fleet of shikaras and houseboats were kept available for tourists to join the celebrations and witness laser show and film.

Renowned Bollywood singer Adnan Sami, national level musician and santoor player, Abhay Rustum Sopori and noted flutist Hariprasad Chaurasia joined the Iconic Week celebrations and enthralled audience with their magical performances at musical evening show held at Cheshmashahi garden in Srinagar.

The musical evening show was organized by Mission Youth J&K in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and J&K Tourism department, where noted singers, musicians, instrumentalists both local as well as National level performed.

The show was inaugurated by Chief Justice of High Court of Jammu and Kashmir & Ladakh, Pankaj Mithal after holding Yizband khawni.

Mayor Srinagar, Junaid Azim Mattu, Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor, Niteshwar Kumar, Secretary Tourism and Culture, Sarmad Hafeez and Chief Executive Officer, Mission Youth J&K, Shahid Iqbal Chaudhary, Director Tourism Kashmir, G N Itoo and other officers were also present on occasion.
