A Special Police Officer (SPO) and his brother were shot dead by unidentified militants on Saturday in Budgam district.
According to reports, unidentified militants appeared in Chadabugh village of Soibugh on Saturday evening and opened fire upon SPO Ishfaq Ahmad and his brother Umar Ahmad, leaving them critically injured.

The injured brothers were removed by their family and neighbours to the SK institute of medical sciences (SKIMS) Bemina for treatment. However, the doctors there declared the policeman brought dead.

Umar, who is said to be a student, was grievously injured and admitted to the hospital, succumbed to the injuries early morning, Medical Superintendent of the hospital Dr Shifa Deva said.
