Two Rebels, soldier killed in ongoing Handwara gunfight

Two rebels and a soldier died in an ongoing gunfight between rebels and government forces in Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday.

An army spokesperson said three to four rebels are believed to be trapped in the firefight that began today afternoon in Bawan area of the district.

Colonel N N Joshi said that two rebels and a soldier died in the initial exchange of fire.

He said that the area has been cordoned off and reinforcements have been rushed to the encounter site.
