Government has shortlisted a total of 118 women for its newly Hausla scheme to promote women entrepreneurship in J&K.
Managing director JK Trade Promotion Organization (JKPTO) Ankit Kar said that 500 women had enrolled in the program. The shortlisted women will now undergo training.
“All the women that have been selected for the first batch this year are existing entrepreneurs whose documentation met all the requirements,” Kar said.
A ‘Hausla Team’ in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Administration and India SME Forum under the leadership of JKTPO will try to reduce the gap of women ownership in business establishments through the scheme.
The selected women entrepreneurs have already established their business units and are looking for financial support from the government.
Many women are coming up with potential business projects which need funding. The idea behind this programme is to give such women entrepreneurs a proper platform to launch their project,” Kar said.
Kar said the training would be of three months after which the women entrepreneurs will be provided financial assistance as per the requirements“. If the pilot project is a success, then we are planning to make it an annual affair every year,” Kar said.
