5 Indian Navy Personnel Go Missing After Avalanche in Uttarakhand.

Five Indian Navy personnel part of a 20-member mountaineering expedition to Mt Trishul in Uttarakhand went missing after at Mount Trishul in Uttarakhand was hit by an avalanche.

The 20-member team was flagged off from Mumbai on September 3 last to summit Mount Trishul, located at an altitude of 7100 metres.

Ground rescue teams and helicopters from Army, Air Force and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been pressed into action.

“Search and rescue operations for five members of the Indian Navy mountaineering expedition to Mt Trishul, caught in an avalanche near the summit camp, is being progressed by the ground rescue team and helicopters from Army, Air Force and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF),” the Indian Navy said.

Ten climbers had started their approach on the final leg of the summit on Friday morning, but were caught in an avalanche short of the summit.
