Newspaper Office Damaged in Fire in Srinagar’s Rajbagh Area.

A newspaper office was damaged in a fire incident in Rajbagh, Srinagar which engulfed a residential building.

Locals told Kashmir News Trust that flames started emanating from the top floor of the building housing many offices this afternoon.

They said that the owner had given the building on rent and many people including a newspaper editor were operating their offices from the said building.

Locals added that the office of ‘Daily Srinagar Mail’ newspaper was completely destroyed in the fire incident.

“Whatever was present in the office turned into ashes. “All the electronic equipment plus important documents were destroyed,” said a local.

The said building located near Abdullah Bridge was damaged in the incident while a man sustained burn injuries and was shifted to hospital.

Firefighters finally managed to douse the fire. The cause of fire is being ascertained.
