The incident occurred in Mulbushan village which is less then a kilometer away from Magam town.

Eyewitnesses told news agency Kashmir News Trust that army has conducting a routine survey moving from house to house. They said that in one of the houses, army officers removed the photograph of Qasem Soleimani  and burnt it down.

The locals strongly objected and staged protest. As the word spread, the shopkeepers in Magam downed their shutters and staged a massive protest demanding action against the army officer.

When contacted SSP Budgam, Tahir Saleem told KNT that he is ascertaining facts.

The situation in town was tense when the reports last came in.

Qasem Soleimani was an Iranian military officer who served in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. From 1998 until his assassination in 2020, he was the commander of the Quds Force. He was killed in US air raid. (KNT)
