42 flights cancelled as Bad Weather Disrupts Flights at Srinagar Airport.

42 to-and-fro flights were cancelled at Srinagar International airport due to poor visibility, officials said, as snowfall continued to fall in upper reaches of Kashmir.

Director Srinagar Srinagar International Airport, Director Srinagar airport, Kuldeep Singh said out of total 44 to-and-fro flights scheduled for Tuesday, 42 were cancelled due to continuous snowfall and poor visibility across all airlines.

“All the passengers of cancelled flights shall be rescheduled in the next available flights of concerned airlines.  There will be no extra charges for rescheduling.

The passengers may also opt for a full refund at their convenience,” he said. Singh said in view of MeT prediction for snowfall for the next two days, flight operations would depend on runway visibility on Wednesday.

The Meteorological Department has predicted possibility of moderate to heavy snowfall in higher reaches and light snowfall in plains during the next 18 hours.

Director MeT, Sonam Lotus told Rising Kashmir that prevailing weather conditions will likely continue till January 6th.

“The peak activity will be on Wednesday and after that, we are expecting a significant improvement from January 8th onward,” he said.

At many places in Valley, the depth of snow is over 8-9 inches, which hampered pedestrian movement. While the administration had set up control rooms to help people across the Valley and asked them to remain on high alert.
