Anti Corruption Bureau(ACB) has arrested the President of Municipal Committee Pahalgam, in Anantnag while demanding and taking Rs.80,000 as bribe for the release of payments for supply of garbage vehicles.
ACB said in a statement, that the arrest was made following a complaint by the supplier of the two hopper tipper dumpers alleging therein that President MC Pahalgam, Owais Ahmad was demanding Rs 80,000 as a bribe for the release of payments for the vehicles.
A FIR No 31/2021 under Section 7 of the PC Act 1988 was registered with the ACB and investigation was taken up.
“During the course of an investigation, a trap team constituted. The trap team laid a successful trap and caught red-handed Owais Ahmad while demanding and accepting a bribe amount of Rs. 80,000 from the complainant. He was arrested and taken into custody by ACB Team,” it said, adding that further investigation into the case is going on.
