After putting aside a disappointing World Cup campaign to sweep New Zealand 3-0 in the T20 series, the Indian team is seemingly back in the good books of its fans, however now an off field decision has left the fans furious and distracted from a dominating display.
BCCI has asked its players to follow a strict diet plan to remain fit.
Players will not be allowed to eat pork and beef in any form and variety in order to keep themselves fit and healthy. If anyone wants to have meat, it should be only halal; players cannot eat any other form of meat whatsoever.
The BCCI claims that it enforced this dietary plan strictly for keeping players fit and healthy for big series and upcoming International Cricket Council (ICC) tournaments. So, this new dietary plan will ensure that players do not gain any unnecessary pounds before any important series or event.
“According to the new dietary plan of the Indian cricket team, “players aren’t allowed to eat pork and beef in any form and variety in order to keep themselves fit and healthy,” read a report in Sports Tak.
“If anyone wants to have meat then it should be only in halal form, players can’t eat any other form of meat whatsoever,” it added.
Furious Reaction.
Now, eating Halal meat is prohibited in Hinduism and Sikhism, while Muslisms eat only Halal meat and for them any other form of meat is strictly prohibited.
This news has garnered a strong reaction mainly from the Hindu community.
It is clear to see that the decision has not gone down well with many people even though the decision has been made purely on basis of players fitness and health.
Beef and pork which can add to weight of players have been completely banned but if a player that needs to eat meat or is habitual of meat consumption then Halal meat is the option made available to them.
