The Jammu Kashmir administration on Monday said that it will start the auction of liquor shops in the region.
According to reports, 289 liquor shops will be auctioned this year which includes 51 new shops- 45 in Jammu and six in Kashmir Valley.

The Minimum Reserve Price to bid for each vend shall be Rupees Ten lacs as given in the Excise Policy. The bidders can bid in increments of Rs. 50000/- (Max 4 lacs) beyond the Reserve Price.
Last year some people bid for the shops, but they could not open the shops after public protests.
The Excise Commissioner says that the policy of the department is clear that the responsibility of opening the shop will be of the bidder himself.
