The Jammu and Kashmir administration has decided to invite tour and travel agencies from outside the region to open their outlets in the Union Territory to further boost the flow of tourism.
Secretary Tourism Department Sarmad Hafeez told Rising Kashmir that they shall invite tour and travel agents from outside Kashmir to open their chapters and outlets here so that more people will come and visit the Valley.
Hafeez also said that the department is also planning to conduct road shows across India to promote J&K tourism.
Besides inviting tour and travel outlets, the Secretary Tourism said the department has set up tent colonies for tourists for night stay at high altitudes, mountains and lakes.

“The government, so far, has set up nearly 300-400 tents in different tourist areas of Kashmir. More tents would also be set up at high altitude destinations,” Hafeez said.
He also said the department is focusing on identifying 75 untapped destinations which shall be brought on the tourist map.
He also said homestays for tourists would help the local people at grassroots to participate directly in the sector and improve their economic conditions as well.
Hafeez further said the department has already issued the new home stay policy and guidelines wherein it has been made much easier to get homestay registration.
