The Delhi High Court on Thursday dismissed pleas seeking the postponement of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2022 exam.

The petitioners who sought to set aside the date fixed for the entrance test and re-schedule it after four to six weeks on several grounds were dismissed by the High Court.

The court pointed out that it was too late and the petition was misconceived. The court also said that it is not going to levy costs because these are students.

“I was quite inclined to pass an order against the petitioner but only because these are students we are not going. If such petitions are filed then the court will not shy away from imposing costs,” Justice Narula noted as he dismissed the plea. He further added that there was no merit in the petition.

NTA Counsel has argued that there is no legal right here of the students to seek postponement of the examination. It also pointed out that nearly 90% of the registered candidates have downloaded their NEET admit Card.

Counsel representing NTA has pointed out that over 18 lakh students are scheuled to appear for the examination across 3500 examination centres. Delay of even a day would create havoc.
