Xiaomi has emerged as the number one smartphone brand globally for the first time ever in June. A remarkable rise for a company which sold its first smartphone in 2011.
The brand has been the leading smartphone brand in India for a while and first overtook Samsung in Europe and then globally.
Xiaomi’s sales grew captured 17.1 percent market share in terms of global smartphone sales. Samsung followed with its 15.7 percent market share and Apple at 14.3 percent.
This is the first time when Xiaomi has managed to grab the top spot among smartphone makers. However, it still ranks behind Samsung at the second spot if the entire quarter is taken into the equation.
