A protest was staged in Anantnag on Sunday against the “approval” to open wine shops in various locations in Jammu Kashmir.
Led by a local Councillors Amir Fayaz Reshi and Mohammed Asif Bhat, the youth raised slogans demanding an immediate reversal of the order.

“We have been hearing that wine shops are being opened in various locations of Jammu Kashmir, which includes places in Anantnag. This is not tolerable to us (Kashmiris),” one of the protesters said.
These protestors demanded a complete ban on the sale of Alcohol and other drugs in the entire region.
Pertinently, the Jammu Kashmir admin recently announced that it was going to open new liquor sale points at different locations in the Kashmir Valley. The excise department according to reports has identified 51 new locations, 45 in different parts of the Jammu division and six in Kashmir Valley.
As per Sources, the new liquor sale points are likely to be opened in tourist destinations of Kashmir Valley.
