T20 World Cup: England vs South Africa and Australia vs West Indies; Semi Final spots up for grabs

Australia and South Africa are both vying for a semi final spot in the final round of matches in Group 1 of Super 12.

Although England aren’t in the semis yet technically, their vastly superior net run rate means they are virtually assured of a last 4 berth.

Two big games are in store as 3/4th of the semi finals will be finalized today.

Australia vs West Indies.

This has been a steady, straightforward performance by Australia in this World Cup, showing shades of domination but also given a reality check by England in the process. But three wins so far mean they are likely to qualify with another 2 points here. Australia are known to be good performers when it comes to ICC events, although the T20 World Cup continues to elude them.

West Indies were knocked out of the tournament after a faltering defeat to Sri Lanka and will be now hoping to go out with a bang with their stalwarts unlikely to feature in more such mega events.

Australia have approached this tournament with caution and a strong win here, will make that England loss a distant memory, however, they must be wary of a West Indies side eager to bow out in style and fully capable of ruining Australia’s day.

WHERE TO WATCH:

The match will be aired live on Star Sports channels – Star Sports 1, Star Sports 1 HD, Star Sports 3 and Star Sports 3 HD, and DD Sports. The game will also be available on Hotstar app for streaming.

TIMING:

England vs South Africa.

South Africa go into this match with hope more than expectations. Hope that West Indies does them a favour, hope that England have their eye already on the semi finals, hope that their team clicks just enough to carry them into the knockouts were anything can happen.

This is their toughest test yet and the only time they faced opposition stronger than them they faltered, a defeat against Australia which they may come to regret come the end of this match.

They still stand a chance to qualify even if Australia beat West Indies, but then they will have to thrash England to make their case.

For England it will be about not letting up and staying in the zone, They have a team determined to win a second ICC World Cup in 2 years and with either calculated New Zealand or a dangerous India lying in wait in the semis they cannot be complacent now and lose confidence.
