T20 World Cup: South Africa Beat Bangladesh To Strengthen Semis Claim.

South Africa beat Bangladesh by 6 wickets and 39 balls to spare in Abu Dhabi to strengthen their semi finals claim.

The Super 12 clash saw South Africa win the toss and elect to bowl first. Despite throwing caution to the wind, Bangladesh’s struggles were exposed. Kagiso Rabada got back in form picking up the first three wickets leaving Bangladesh at 24/3 inside the powerplay.

After this it was the turn of Anrich Nortje as Bangladesh failed to get any momentum going. Tabraez Shamsi then wrapped the innings as Bangladesh could only muster 84 runs.

In response South Africa were far from their confident best as quick wickets gave Bangladesh hope. Both openers were dismissed cheaply and when Aiden Markram departed, they were struggling at 33/3 in the first 6 overs.

But Rassie van der Dussen and captain Temba Bavuma ensured there was no collapse as the duo added 47 runs for the 4th wicket. And when Dussen departed South Africa needed only 5 more runs which they duly got.

This win means Temba Bavuma has led his side to 3 back to back wins and put pressure on Australia who are third in the group.

A key game against England will determine the future of the second semi final spot.
