Project officer ERA, Ishtiaq Ahmed Malik said that the work on this important stretch was carried out last year. However, 300 meters were left as the work was stopped due to cold weather.
He said the work was started again and it will take some 15-20 days to complete the stretch and appealed to travellers to use some alternate road to reach their destinations.
While appealing to people to follow the traffic plan, he said the people have to face the inconvenience for a few weeks till the traffic movement will be restored on the stretch.
The officer also said that they are taking care of very few roads in the city. He stated that the other roads in the city will also be upgraded.
The road was full of stretch, and people were facing immense hardships due to bad road connectivity.
Meanwhile, Srinagar police have also issued a Traffic advisory given road upgradation.
“ERA has started work on up-gradation of the road from Jehangir Chowk to Magarmal Bagh crossing and the work is expected to take at least two weeks for completion.
Traffic moving from Jehangir Chowk towards Iqbal Park should take the diversion towards Maharaja Bazar via HSHS, said a spokesperson of Srinagar traffic police”, advisory reads.
It further reads, “Vehicles bound for Barzulla from Amarsingh college/Tulsibagh will be diverted via Solina-Rambagh road”, and appealed to people, in general, to use the Jehangir chowk flyover to reach Rambagh/Barzulla, city traffic police said.
