UP Polls: Mukesh Verma Becomes 7th BJP MLA To Quit Party, Says More Will Follow.

BJP keeps getting one jolt after another ahead of heated Uttar Pradesh polls, as Mukesh Verma becomes the seventh MLA to quit the party in the last three days.

Mukesh Verma accused the Yogi Adityanath-led government of neglecting the Dalits, other backward classes, minority communities, farmers and the unemployed people in Uttar Pradesh.

“During the tenure of 5 years by the BJP government, no attention was given to the leaders and public representatives of the Dalit, backward and minority communities, and these communities were neglected. Hence, I resign from the primary membership of the Bharatiya Janata Party,” he tweeted.

“The Bharatiya Janata Party has attacked the provisions of the Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Constitution. BJP cares only about its own interest,” he alleged.

“Swami Prasad Maurya is our leader. We will support whatever decision he takes. Many other leaders will join us in the coming days,” Verma added.

“The BJP has done ‘vikas‘ (development) only for itself. The party has built more offices in five years than had been constructed in the last 70 years. Every district has two BJP offices now. But the poor were neglected,” Verma said.

The series of resignations is likely to hit BJP in the upcoming Assembly polls. Uttar Pradesh will vote in seven phases to elect 403 MLAs between February 10 and March 7. The counting of votes will take place on March 10.
