In fact, this was the third time that six and more Bangladeshi batters have failed to open their account during a Test innings. They recorded the same record in the first innings of their previous Test against Sri Lanka last month.
With this Bangladesh became the first Test in the history of the format to register 6 ducks in an innings in back-to-back matches.
Asking Bangladesh to bat first, Kemar Roach and Co. extracted plenty of bounce and seam movement from the pitch, with the pacers sharing all 10 wickets among themselves in the end.
Jayden Seales and Alzarri Joseph finished with three wickets each but it was really Roach who had set the rhythm early on by striking with the second ball of the match. Close on the heels of that, Bangladesh ended up losing six wickets in a dramatic opening session.
At the close of play on Day 1, West Indies were 95/2, trailing the visitors by eight runs.
