Calling the promise of Narendra Modi to the newer generation of Jammu Kashmir a blatant lie senior Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Mohammed Yusuf Tarigami said that Modi Government has pushed the youth of Kashmir to the wall.

“You have done nothing to provide jobs to the youth, control the price rise. On the other hand, the BJP government pushed them to the wall,” he said. The four-time Legislative Assembly member from the Kulgam district said that scores of youth were detained and put behind the bars ahead of PM Modi’s visit.

Targeting bureaucracy, he said that the bureaucrats are lying to the central Government. “there is no calm in Kashmir and this era of silence should not be mistaken for acceptance. The ground is slipping fast in Kashmir. India is losing the hearts of the people of Jammu Kashmir. These gaps need to be bridged fast,” MY Tarigami said. He said that the bureaucrats are “lying” about normalcy in Kashmir, “People in Kashmir are extremely angry against the Policies of the Modi led Government,” the former MLA Kulgam said.

Speaking at the press conference at his Gupkar residence in Srinagar, MY Tarigami targeted the BJP government over the issue of Panchayats. “It is just over the papers. On the ground DDC members, BDC members, Sarpanches are suffering immensely. The promises are as bogus as the ones made last year when the pro-establishment leaders met Narendra Modi in New Delhi. ” he said.

He also targeted the government over the pathetic condition of electricity in Jammu Kashmir, the senior leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) Mohammed Yusuf Tarigami said that the region is being deprived of its own electricity.

“You counted thousands of crores to be given to the region but did not speak a word about the electricity and how NHPC makes Kashmir suffer and deprives Kashmir of its electricity. 45 percent of the overall electricity produced by NHPC comes from the water resources of Jammu Kashmir and here we are reeling under complete darkness,” the senior leader said.

He demanded that the people of Jammu Kashmir should be given an equal share in NHPC’s total electricity production.
