PSL 7: Why Did Wasim Akram and Babar Azam Get Into Heated Discussion?

Former Pakistan fast bowler and current Karachi Kings President Wasim Akram was seen getting animated on the sidelines in a discussion with franchise captain Babar Azam  during a Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022 match at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

A video of Akram having a heated chat with Babar went viral online and a section of Pakistan cricket fans were not happy with the way Akram shooed instructions to Babar from near the boundary rope.

Babar’s men were not able to defend 29 runs from the last 2 overs against Multan Sultans in their 8th league match of PSL 2022. England fast bowler Chris Jordan gave away 20 runs in the penultimate over of the match as Karachi Kings failed to defend a 174-run total.

Kushdil Shah hit 2 sixes and a boundary in Jordan’s over before the Sultans finished off the chase with 3 balls to spare.

Notably, nothing has been going right for Babar and Karachi Kings in PSL 2022. The Kings have lost all their 8 matches so far and are reeling at the bottom of the points table.

Akram Clarifies

Akram, who is the president of Karachi Kings franchise in PSL 2022, took to social media on Thursday to clarity his stance on the viral clip that is being circulated online.

“Hello! Surprised to see reactions to my talking to Babar at the boundary last night. What I was saying was ‘why our bowlers are not bowling yorkers or slower ones offside off’.nothing else. Babar is a wonderful boy and has tried his best. And what he wants for dinner,” Akram wrote on Twitter.

Babar was listening with rapt attention after Akram was seemingly furious with the Karachi Kings’ bowling effort.
