The government allotted 278 kanals of land for the building of transit accommodation for Kashmiri migrant employees appointed under Prime Minister’s employment package in different parts of Kashmir valley.
An order to this effect was issued by Principal Secretary to the Government, Revenue Department, Shaleen Kabra.
Land alloted in different districts:
Out of 278 kanals of land, 50 kanals has been allotted at Kuthair village in tehsil Shangus of Anantnag district, while 75 kanals was allotted at Odina village of Sonawari tehsil of Bandipora district, 30 Kanals each has allotted at village Mirhama in tehsil and district Kulgam and Barsoo in tehsil Awantipora of Pulwama district and 93 kanals at village Zewan in tehsil Pantha Chowk of Srinagar district.
How many flats?
Quoting official sources newspaper Daily Excelsior reported that about 5000 flats will be constructed for Kashmiri migrant employees appointed under Prime Minister’s employment package at different places in the Valley in five phases. While the land for the flats to be constructed in the first four phases has been allotted and construction work on various towers is on at different places, the land at Sheikhpora IInd in Shopian district for the fifth phase is yet to be allotted.
They said the R&B and JKPCC will be the constructing agency and the construction work will be undertaken on a war footing.
“50 kanals of land has already been allotted in Mattan in Anantnag district, 30 kanals in Shopian and 70 kanals in Barsoo, Awantipora in Pulwama district while construction work on 192 flats is on at Wandhama village in Ganderbal district where 30 kanals of land has already been allotted to the Department. Moreover, work is also on at construction of quarters at Fatehpora in Baramulla district where 192 flats are to be constructed,” Daily Excelsior quoted sources as having said.
