PSL 7: David Willey defended 8 runs in the last over against Quetta Gladiators to hand Multan Sultans a third in as many games.

Multan began their inning with the in form Mohammad Rizwan being dismissed for a duck for the first time in 37 innings.

This time Shan Masood guided the side and stayed solid on a track where bowlers were holding off the pace and making strokeplay difficult.

He added 50 runs for the second wicket with Sohaib Maqsood but runs were still coming in slow. Shan Masood scored 88 runs and aided by slogging of Tim David who remained unbeaten on 28 off 16 deliveries, Multan posted 174/4 in 20 overs.

A usually reliable top order thus far collapsed with only Ben Duckett finding some form and Ahsan Ali made 24 up top but Sarfaraz Ahmed had a poor outing with the bat.

At 108/6 after 14,1 overs, Quetta looked dead and buried in the chase before a rescue act by the lower order.

First Iftikhar and then Sohail Tanvir ignited hopes of a comeback win. But with Iftikhar’s dismissal, it required Sohail Tanvir to guide his team to win.

But his four off the last ball of the 19th over meant, Naseem Shah was left to face David Wiley.

Willey used the variations in pace resulting in two dot balls to Naseem Shah.

Then another slower one forced Tanvir to find the fielder at the deep.

With seven needed off two, Naseem did middle one which appeared to be sailing over but Tim David managed to judge the catch near the boundary to perfection and grabbed it over his head to pull off a sensational 6 run win for his side.

Brief scores:

Multan Sultans 174/4 in 20 overs (Shan Masood 88, Tim David 28*; Mohammad Hasnain 2-27)

Quetta Gladiators168 in 19.5 overs (Ben Duckett 47, Iftikhar Ahmed 30; Khushdil Shah 3-16, Imran Tahir 3-24)
