Russia-Ukraine Crisis: Updates As Russian Troops Storm Kyiv; 40 Soldiers, 10 Civilians Killed.

Russian troops have now broken into north of Kyiv region with as many as 40 Ukranian soldiers and around 10 civilians been killed by Russian shelling, a Reuters report quoting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy adviser, said on Thursday.

Videos are also circulating of what seem to be Russian military choppers flying over the Hostomel Airport in Kyiv.

The Ukrainian General Staff of Armed Forces also released a video, claiming to have shot down at least two Russian choppers.

Ukrainian officials also claimed to have captured two Russian soldiers part of a motorized rifle regiment.

The chief of Ukraine’s General Staff of the Armed Forces on Thursday briefed the media about the situation unfolding in the country.

“As of 13:00 on February 24, the armed forces of the aggressor state, the Russian Federation launched more than 30 strikes with “Caliber” cruise missiles, MLRS, aircraft and artillery on Ukrainian civil and military infrastructure,” the official said.

He went on to add, “The enemy continues the offensive with the support of army aircraft crossing the Ukrainian border in the directions of Armiansk, Kherson, Chaplynka, Kakhovka.

“Operational and tactical groups are conducting defensive battles in all directions of the enemy’s advance.”

News agency AFP, quoting Ukrainian emergency services, said a military plane with 14 aboard has crashed near Kyiv.
