Pakistan cricket captain Babar Azam landed himself in controversy after an incident at the High Performance Centre in Lahore.

Babar Azam brought his younger brother Safeer to the high performance centre and allowed him to have net practice.

Safeer posted a video on Twitter of his batting skills against Pakistan pacer Shahnawaz Dahani while Babar was watching it closely.

Safeer was batting in the nets of the High-Performance Centre in Lahore which is deemed to be against the guidelines of the PCB.

Babar was guiding his brother in improving his skills however, the usage of the HPC seemed to have aroused a lot of criticism on social media.

PCB policies governing its High-Performance Centre clearly state that only Pakistan players, first-class players or junior cricketers can use the facilities and staff at the HPC with permission of the authorities and the video posted by Safeer wasn’t welcomed by fans and the former cricketers including Tanvir Ahmed.

A PCB source mentioned that Babar Azam had come to the centre before the conditioning camp with his brother and allowed him to train in the nets which was brought to the attention of the board. The source added that the matter was handled in the way it should be and Azam was reminded about the severity of the situation as well.

“Babar came to the centre three-four days back with his brother and this was before the conditioning camp had begun. And his brother later held nets which was brought to the notice of the board,” a reliable source in the PCB said according to Hindustan Times. “He is our national team captain and the matter was handled in a manner where he was politely reminded about the situation and he agreed,” the source added.
