The Jammu and Kashmir Nursing Council has removed the fee disparity of colleges and asked all the Kashmir and Jammu divisions colleges to charge uniform fee from 2022-2023 academic year onwards.

As per an order of the council issued by the Principal to the Secretary BOPEE, there was huge disparity in charging fee by Jammu and Kashmir divisions which has been fixed now by ordering charging of uniform fee across the UT.

“The matter was discussed in the Governing Body Meeting of Jammu and Kashmir Paramedical Nursing Council held on 07.07.2022, and it was unanimously decided that the all the Government (B.Sc Nursing Colleges under Health and Medical Education Department) across the UT of Jammu and Kashmir shall charge the Fee as has been fixed by the Government as per the aforecited order to avoid any confusion among the trainees,” the order said.

It said that the fee shall be applicable from the current session 2022-2023.

“It is as such intimated that kindly modify/ amend your brochure published for the Session 2022-23 accordingly.

The matter may be taken on priority as the counselling schedule has been announced by your office,” the order asks the Secretary BOPEE.

As per the Health and Medical Education department, the fee charged from students is 9000 per year.

The issue cropped us after Nursing College Gangyal Jammu violated the H&ME order and exacted Rs 70,000 fee from ‘Above Poverty Line’ students and Rs 50,000 from ‘Below Poverty Line’

Nearly 210 students (from 1st to 3rd year) are enrolled in the college- a total of Rs 2,20000 as Course Fee and Rs 10,400 as Exam fee for four years.

The Nursing College Gangyal has cited an order of the Higher Education department vide number 302 of 2019, dated 18-06-2019 which asked the students to pay 70,000 fee per year.

The students demanded refund of the fee which was taken extra by the Gangyal Nursing college. (KNT)
