18 Schools In J&K Renamed After ‘Martyrs, Eminent Persons’.

The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Thursday issued a list of 18 government schools that would be named after the martyrs and eminent personalities.

According to General Administration Department (GAD) Commissioner Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, the sanction was accorded to the “naming of infrastructure or assets after the martyrs or eminent personalities” in pursuance of the Administrative Council decision.

Earlier, the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Council (AC) that met under the chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha approved the naming of schools, roads, and buildings after martyrs and eminent people under the ongoing “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” celebrations.

According to the order, Government Higher Secondary School Soaf Shali, Anantnag has been named after Sarwanand Kaul Premi, Government Boys’ Middle School Wanpora Gurez is named after Reyaz Ahmad Lone; Girls Middle School (GMS) Chandanwari, named after Mohammad Safeer Khan; GMS Dab is named after Shabir Ahmad Malik; Boys Middle School (BMS) Kupwara is named after Abdul Hameed Chara; Upper Primary School (UPS) Kundlayan is named after Abdula Rashid Kalas; GMS Banday Mohalla Handwara named after Ghulam Mustufa Brah;

Similarly, UPS Kashmiri Manigah is named after Sheraz Ahmad; Middle School (Boys) Garhi is named after Rajinder Kumar; Government Boys Middle School Jaganoo is named after Raj Kumar, Government Girls’ Middle School Muthlal, Alanbas named after Naseem Singh, Government Middle School Bagga is named after Jal Din, MS Butt Pura Dool named after Shamim Ahmad, middle school (MS) Sounder Ragu Nath, middle school Chatyari Panchayat Loorkote named after Joginder Singh, PS Patti named after Havaldar Satrool Singh, government middle school Kheri named after Raj Kumar, government primary school, Dab Ditta named after Jagdev Singh.

“It is further ordered that the concerned administrative secretaries shall take immediate necessary steps, including amending their records, to effect the changes.”

“The Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir/Jammu, shall personally monitor the naming of infrastructure assets in their respective divisions; and the Deputy Commissioner(s) shall ensure that suitable events are held in connection with the naming of these infrastructure assets,” Dwivedi ordered.

The government has named schools, colleges, and roads after martyrs or eminent personalities, in the past as well.
