SCERT-Kashmir Division Launches Workshops to Enhance Educational Excellence

The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Kashmir Division, has inaugurated three key workshops aimed at transforming the region’s education system. Despite the cold weather, educators from across Kashmir enthusiastically gathered to participate in this initiative.

Roshan Lal, Joint Director of SCERT-Kashmir, praised the commitment of educators, stating, “Even the biting cold cannot deter the dedication of our educators who are here to drive positive change in our education system.”

The Three Workshops: Focus and Objectives

1. Administrative and Financial Norms

  • Objective: To empower School Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) with essential administrative and financial skills.
  • Key Topics:
    • General Financial Rules (GFR) 2017
    • Public Financial Management System (PFMS) operations
    • Comprehensive resource handbooks
  • Highlight: Shri Roshan Lal emphasized that effective administration is crucial for building a robust education system, calling it “the backbone of educational excellence through strategic leadership.”

2. English Language Teaching

  • Objective: To modernize English language instruction in line with global standards.
  • Focus Areas:
    • Combining traditional methods with modern pedagogy
    • Equipping students with communication skills for global opportunities
  • Expert Insight: Prof. (Dr.) Parikshat Singh Manhas remarked, “English today is more than a subject—it is a gateway to global opportunities.”

3. Soft Skills Development

  • Objective: To highlight the importance of soft skills alongside technical knowledge for personal and professional success.
  • Key Themes:
    • Interpersonal and communication skills
    • Preparing students for diverse professional environments
  • Perspective: Shri Roshan Lal noted, “Technical knowledge alone is not enough; it must be complemented by strong interpersonal skills.”

Aligned with National Education Goals

These workshops reflect SCERT-Kashmir’s commitment to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023. They aim to address administrative efficiency, pedagogical excellence, and holistic skill development, preparing educators and students to meet modern challenges.

Participants from all ten districts of Kashmir are engaged in this five-day program, which combines theoretical learning with practical tools for immediate implementation. One participant described it as a significant contribution to the region’s educational future, stating, “We are not just attending workshops; we are contributing to the future of education in Kashmir.”

Prof. Manhas referred to the launch of these workshops as “the trinity of educational transformation,” underlining SCERT-Kashmir’s dedication to setting new standards for educational quality and preparing the region’s educators and students for future challenges.
