The recent announcement of the JKP Constable Telecommunication and Photography exam results by the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has sparked outrage among aspirants, who allege major irregularities in the selection process.

Key Allegations by Aspirants

Aspirants have raised serious doubts about the transparency of the results, pointing out that candidates who topped the highly technical exams had alarmingly low or even negative scores in the previous JKP (Executive/Armed/SDRF) exams, which were considered simpler.

One aspirant questioned,

“How is it possible for someone with poor or negative scores in an easier paper to suddenly excel in a more technical and challenging exam? This defies logic and fairness.”

Another aspirant expressed frustration, calling the situation a “mockery” of their efforts and accusing JKSSB of jeopardizing their future.

Political Reactions

Several political leaders have supported the aggrieved candidates:

  • Iltija Mufti, PDP leader, tweeted:

“JKSSB continues jeopardizing the future of J&K’s youth. Massive discrepancies in the JKP Telecommunications exam where ‘toppers’ fared poorly in the previously held constable exams.”

  • Aspirants have also appealed to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullahto intervene, cancel the results, and conduct a fresh examination to ensure fairness.

Demands of Aspirants

The delegation of aspirants is demanding:

  1. Cancellation of the declared results.
  2. A fresh and fair examination.
  3. An immediate investigation into the alleged irregularities to restore trust in the recruitment process.

Impact on Aspirants

The controversy has caused significant emotional and mental strain among candidates.

“We feel disheartened and betrayed. If merit is overlooked, trust in the system will collapse,” said one aspirant.

Background

  • The JKP Telecommunication and Photography exams were held on December 1, 8, and 22, 2024, as part of the first major recruitment drive since 2019.
  • The drive announced 4,002 vacancies across different posts, with a selection process including a written test, followed by physical and medical examinations.
