Kashmir’s iconic Tulip Garden, nestled against the majestic Zabarwan mountains and overlooking the serene Dal Lake, is preparing for a breathtaking season this spring. Scheduled to open after March 20, the garden is expected to attract record-breaking visitors, fueled by expanded floral displays and the newly launched direct rail link from Delhi to Kashmir.

A Blossoming Spectacle

As Asia’s largest tulip garden, the venue has been a magnet for tourists, offering a mesmerizing blend of nature and artistry. This year, the garden promises to outshine its previous displays with an enhanced variety of tulips and additional vibrant floral species.

According to Javaid Masood, the garden’s in-charge, “We’re introducing exciting colour themes to make the floral arrangements even more captivating. Our gardeners are working tirelessly to ensure this season is the most visually stunning yet.”

Tourism Boost with Direct Rail Connectivity

The recent introduction of a direct train service from Delhi to Kashmir is expected to significantly increase tourist arrivals. This rail link offers a budget-friendly travel alternative, especially amid rising airfares, making Kashmir’s beauty more accessible to visitors from across India.

Masood noted, “We anticipate a surge in national tourists this year. With improved connectivity and affordable travel, the garden will likely see higher footfall from various parts of the country.”

A Look Back at Last Year’s Success

In 2024, the Tulip Garden welcomed an impressive 500,000 visitors, with 75% non-local tourists and 25% locals. However, the garden’s opening coinciding with Ramadan limited local participation. With Ramadan ending on March 31 this year, the garden expects a rise in local visitors during Eid celebrations, balancing tourist and local attendance.

Season Highlights and Duration

The garden typically remains open for about a month, though weather conditions dictate the exact schedule. Beyond its stunning floral displays, visitors can look forward to the warm hospitality and cultural charm that Kashmir is known for.

A Promising 2025 Season

The Tulip Garden’s 2025 season is shaping up to be its most successful yet. The combination of expanded floral diversity and enhanced connectivity through the Delhi-Kashmir rail link positions the garden as a top spring attraction in Asia.

Whether you’re a nature enthusiast or a first-time visitor, Kashmir’s Tulip Garden promises an unforgettable experience of vibrant colours, panoramic vistas, and the unparalleled beauty of spring in the Valley.
