Change 12th Date Sheet 2025, Cite Inadequate Preparation Gaps: Parents Urge JKBOSE

Parents of students appearing in the upcoming JKBOSE Class 12 annual examinations have appealed to the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) to reconsider the recently released date sheet, arguing that it offers insufficient preparation time between key subjects—especially for the Science stream.

Several parents, speaking to Greater Kashmir, expressed concern that students have only a two-day gap between major Science subjects, except Chemistry, making it difficult to revise thoroughly before each exam.

“This year, the academic session began late, but the exams are being held on schedule,” said one parent. “Subjects like Mathematics have only a two-day gap, while some optional papers enjoy nearly a week of preparation time. It’s unfair to students tackling core subjects.”

Parents have requested JKBOSE to redistribute the preparation days within the current schedule—without extending the overall duration of the exams—to provide a more balanced timeline for all streams.

Responding to these concerns, JKBOSE Secretary G. H. Sheikh said the board had carefully designed the date sheet after evaluating multiple factors and that no modifications are possible at this stage.

“The papers before November 17 have a two-to-three-day gap, while exams scheduled after that date have longer intervals due to the concurrent Class 11 exams,” Sheikh explained.

He added that students have had a full academic session to prepare and also benefited from a 15% syllabus relaxation to offset any disruptions caused by the delayed start.

“In national-level exams like NEET and JEE, students often face back-to-back papers. The current schedule is well within manageable limits,” Sheikh said. “Moreover, we must complete Class 12 exams by November, as December weather often causes disruptions.”

Despite the clarification, parents continue to hope that JKBOSE will consider minor adjustments to ensure students receive a fair opportunity to perform their best.
