The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released an advisory for candidates appearing in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test, NEET (UG) 2026, scheduled to be held on May 3, 2026.
According to the Director Examinations, all candidates will be required to undergo mandatory biometric verification after the frisking process and before entering the examination hall.
The NTA clarified that candidates should not panic if biometric authentication cannot be completed due to technical issues such as device malfunction, poor fingerprint quality, connectivity problems with UIDAI, or medical conditions.
“In such cases, candidates will still be allowed to enter the examination room after submitting a written undertaking. The required format will be made available at the examination centre,” the advisory said.
The NTA further assured that candidates will not be disturbed for biometric procedures during the examination hours, which are scheduled from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM (extended up to 6:00 PM for PwD/PwBD candidates).
The National Testing Agency has released an advisory detailing the dress code for candidates appearing in NEET UG 2026.
According to the advisory, candidates are advised to wear light and comfortable clothing on the day of the examination. While full-sleeved outfits and woollen clothes are allowed if necessary. Candidates must arrive early at the centre to complete security checks and frisking procedures without delays.
The guidelines recommend wearing slippers or low-heeled sandals. This is aimed at ensuring faster verification at entry points and minimising waiting time during the checking process.
Candidates are allowed to carry transparent water bottles into the examination hall.
NTA introduces ‘zero leak policy’ for secure and transparent NEET 2026 exam
For NEET 2026, NTA has significantly upgraded its security framework to ensure a fair and transparent examination process. The agency has introduced a combination of advanced technology and strict on-ground monitoring under a zero-tolerance approach to malpractice and paper leaks.
To enhance exam security, NTA will deploy AI-based surveillance systems that will monitor exam hall activities in real time and flag any suspicious behaviour. Alongside this, biometric verification including fingerprint scanning and facial recognition will be mandatory at multiple checkpoints to prevent impersonation and ensure only authentic candidates enter the examination centres.
