Drishyam showed how an innocent family gets tangled in an accidental murder and how they save themselves from the following police investigation.
Drishyam 2 depicted how the police continued their investigation despite the closure and the father never took a backseat and persisted in his efforts to guard his family.
Drishyam 3 is a continuation of the same story with the protagonist having progressed in his life but his past didn’t stay silent for long and re-appears to trouble him.
Characters:
Mohanlal enacts the role of protagonist Georgekutty with perfection. His subtle expression of the role of a worrisome father aptly depicted the character. The role of Prabhakar played by Siddique was a good enactment of a revengeful person. The role of Sahadevan played by Kalabhavan Shajohn as a resentful and revengeful person was a pretty good act. Ansiba Hassan plays the role of the daughter Anju.
Plot
The entire movie revolves around the main character Georgekutty(Mohanlal) who stands against all odds to protect his family from the unfortunate fate that haunts them from the previous two parts.
This time what bothers him is the marriage of his elder daughter Anju(Ansiba Hassan) whose prospects don’t align. She finds it difficult to get married as all the prospective grooms are lied to by a person close to the family to not marry her.
While as he is occupied in his personal life, Sahadevan(Shajohn) prepares to return with a foreboding for Georgekutty and his family. He delves unilaterally into the investigation of the characters which helped Georgekutty secure himself in the second part of the movie.
All the characters have performed their role well. Georgekutty takes the major screentime and his tense apprehensive looks are just perfect for the character. The movie tries hard to become a thriller but falls short in this excursion as the plot fails to grip the audience in its decisive part. The movie tries hard but fails to carry the sincerity and the thrill of the first two parts.
Positives
The major plus point of the movie is the acting of the characters. Although major screentime is with Georgekutty still all the characters have done a brilliant job with their performances.
The best part of the movie were the 40 minutes from the start as the story was nicely building up and everything seemed perfectly set for a wonderful experience.
The film is rich technically, all the people of the technical department have done a commendable job. The cinematography of the movie is good, it aptly captures the setting of a regular home, the music is subtle and goes well with the tempo of the movie.
Negatives
The biggest drawback is how the narrative is imbalanced over the course of the movie. The plot is promising depsite the concerns.
After about an hour, the plot begins to drag as the movie slows down. The investigation of Sahadevan intrigues at first but then it doesn’t continue the excitement it promised.
Towards the end movie falls flat after its promising first half but the plot seems to lose grip over itself later on as the movie tried hard to thrill with its twists but fails to capture the audience.
