Indian athlete Neeraj Chopra and Pakistani counterpart Arshad Nadeem topped their respective groups to reach the men’s javelin throw final at Tokyo Olympics 2020.

Soon after the result, a photo of the duo on the podium at Asian Games 2018  resurfaced. During that event Neeraj grabbed gold while Arshad had won a silver medal. Now this rivalry will be renewed at the biggest stage in the final on August 7.

Neeraj Chopra threw an 86.65m in the qualification round. In the process, Neeraj became the first Indian to top the qualification at any athletics event at the Olympics.

Arshad Nadeem who cited Neeraj as an inspiration qualified for the finals after an attempt of 85.16m in the qualifying round. The feat made him the first Pakistani to qualify for the final of any track and field event at the Olympics.
