Pakistan’s regional Kashmir Premier League (KPL) has broken the record for being the country’s most viewed live sports event launch on digital media.

The controversial league generated over 5.6 million live views within the first day. This made the league one of the most watched sports event in Pakistan’s history.

In the first five matches, despite one rain shower, the league managed to amass 15 million views in three days of launch.

The match between RawalKot Hawks and MirPur Royals became the most watched opening match for any tournament on digital media in Pakistan.

The tournament is being held at Muzaffarabad Cricket Ground (MCG), with Live TV broadcast on Geo Super (local + US/UK) and PTV Sports. The digital broadcast is on BSports.pk, (parent carrier, local + international), Facebook, KPL Official Channels, Jazz TV, Jazz Cricket, Goonj, Crickwick and Socioon.com.

The tournament features cricketers of international repute such as Shahid Afridi, Herschelle Gibbs, Shoaib Malik among many more.

The league came into news after India’s cricket board BCCI, objected to the league being held in a disputed region.

The tournament has received acclaim since its launch both locally and internationally.

Director Cricket Operations Taimoor Khan has said that the league with its record viewership numbers has now become a “global premier league”.
