Two youth sustained pellet injuries in clashes in Islamabad town on Sunday even as curfew and restrictions continued to remain in force in major towns in South Kashmir for the forty-fourth running day.

One of the youths has been hit in both eyes, hospital sources said.

Reports said two youth were hit by pellets when forces rained pellets on protesters in Moominabad locality of Islamabad town late afternoon.

One among them, 21-year-old B. Tech student- Aadil Rashid of Moominabad, has been hit in both eyes and chest.

“His eyes are in bad condition and pellet has hit in the retina of his left eye,” said doctors at District hospital Anantnag, adding he has been referred to SKIMS for treatment.

He said: “Another youth has been hit in arm and is under treatment here.”

The incident triggered further protests and clashes at Janglat Mandi outside District Hospital.

Clashes were also reported from Khananbal area of town.

Violent clashes also erupted in the evening near Uran Hall and Pazalpora –Bijbehara on the Srinagar-Jammu Highway.

Forces fired pellets and lobbed tear gas canisters on the protesters. The clashes are on, however, till now there have been no reports of any injury.
