West Indies beat Bangladesh by 3 runs in a thrilling contest in Group 1 game of Super 12 in the T20 World Cup.
Batting first West Indies posted 142/7 in 20 overs with Roston Chase(39) and Nicolas Pooran 40 of 22 balls helping West Indies to reach a par score.
In reply Bangladesh despite the fall of wickets looked on course to register their first win of the Super 12. Mahmudullah and Liton Das were involved in a 40 run stand for the 5th wicket, with 30 needed of 3 overs.
However some tight bowling and poor batting by Bangladesh left them with 13 needed of the final over.
Andre Russel produced a brilliant last over as Mahmudullah couldn’t find a way past Russel and with 4 needed of the final ball Russell held his nerve to hand West Indies a much needed win while effectively knocking Bangladesh out of the World Cup.
