Will Constitute STF to Ensure Minimal Power Cuts in Winters: Chief Engineer, PDD

The Chief Engineer of Power Development Department (PDD) said that keeping in view the increasing demand it will constitute teams of Special Task Force (STF) to ensure the judicious use of power supply and minimal power cuts in winters in the valley.

He said due to increase in use of electric gadgets, the consumers in city and elsewhere are witnessing unscheduled power cuts.

He said PDD will form teams of Special Task Force (STF) in coming days to check unauthorized use of electricity and whosoever will be found involved will be dealt as per law.

“STF teams will be formed in coming days to check irregularities. Anyone who will be found involved in power theft will be dealt sternly”, the CE PDD said.

He said PDD teams are already out at many places to check the illegal use of power and more teams would be formed in coming days to enhance the vigil in areas where from frequent complaints of power theft are pouring in.

He appealed consumers to use power supply judiciously in winters and avoid usage of unnecessary electric gadgets. He said in couple of days PDD will issue curtailment schedule.

Meanwhile, there are reports of prolonged power cuts from several parts of city and elsewhere. The consumers from the respective areas appealed LG led administration to put efforts to overcome the challenges and ensure adequate power supply to consumers ahead of winters.

Reports of power outages are being heard from across the Kashmir division. People from north Kashmir’s Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora districts claimed that the power cuts have intensified from the last two weeks due to which they have to spend maximum hours in darkness.
