Saying that Modi government is in better position to resolve Kashmir issue, Democratic Party Nationalist president Ghulam Hassan Mir, in his meeting with visiting All Parties Delegation (APD), has urged the members of the delegation to find a permanent solution to “the vexed problem keeping in view the historical background and aspirations of the people of the state”.
According to a statement issued to press by DPN, Mir, though welcomed the delegation visit to find the way to resolve the Kashmir problem. However, he said that owing to past experiences Kashmiris have lost faith in such delegations.

He, according to the statement, still hoped that such a move will prove a positive step ahead in bringing everlasting peace in the state.
He said that the Modi government is in a better position to find a viable solution to the problem in view of his public mandate and the support of all opposition parties on the issue.
He also suggested the members of the delegation that they should visit the hospitals and meet the injured besides meeting families of those who have lost their dear ones during the present turmoil. He asked the delegation to impress upon the GoI to initiate a purposeful dialogue with all the stakeholders immediately.
Demanding the immediate ban on the use of pellet guns, Mir urged the delegation that strict instructions must be issued to the security forces not to use the pellet guns and exercising maximum restraint. As a confidence building measure, Mir asked the members to recommend a rehabilitation policy for those killed during the present uprising and free best available medical treatment to the injured people.
DPN President asked the state government to allow the commercial activities without causing any inconvenience. He said that the government should facilitate the sale, purchase and transportation of fruits and other trading activities in the best interest of the people. He demanded immediate end to the nocturnal raids and arrest of youngsters.
