Srinagar Admin Asks Police To Book Publisher And Distributor Over Objectionable Book Content.

Srinagar administration has asked the police authorities to register FIR against publisher and distributor of Class 7th social studies text book published by JAY CEE Publications (P) Ltd, New Delhi after the publishing house came up with blasphemous content in its text book.

An official communication by Additional District Magistrate Srinagar, Syed Haneef Balkhi to Senior Superintendent of Police Srinagar has stated that “the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Srinagar informed the administration that a Delhi based Publishing House, JAY CEE Publications has published a social studies book for class 7th wherein content of sensitive nature has reportedly been published and is in circulation.”

“The said book is being stocked and distributed by Paradise Book Shop, Parraypora Srinagar. Keeping in view the above, it is requested to take stern action against the said publishing house as well as the distributor of the book as per law,” the communication reads.

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has barred the schools in J&K and Ladakh from using the textbook of History and Civics edition 2020 published by JAY CEE publications New Delhi for Class 7th.

“All the schools in J&K and Ladakh affiliated either with CBSE, JKBOSE or any other Board of the country are directed not to use the textbook of History and Civics Edition, 2020 for class 7th published by JAY CEE PUBLICATIONS Pvt Ltd, New Delhi,” reads a notification issued by director academics JKBOSE Dr Farooq Ahmad Peer.

“If the textbook is being used in any school, it must be withdrawn immediately, otherwise strict action as warranted under provisions of law shall be initiated,” it reads.

Meanwhile The Private Schools Association of Jammu and Kashmir (PSAJK) constituted a high-level committee to check all books and asked the private schools to refrain from introducing any new book before getting it approved from the expert committee.
