Faza Zainab is a young female journalist from Kashmir who brings issues like domestic violence, increasing suicides, banning of internet among others to the front which affects the common people.
She has helped create awareness about these issues with utmost dedication. She currently works with one of valley’s leading media houses, Asian News Hub.
She caught on the desire to be a journalist from childhood, when she saw news anchors on TV and wanted to speak like them highlighting the issues of the day.
Despite a medical background in her school academics, Faza decided to pursue her journalism dream and began studying the course from Noida. After completion, she then returned to Kashmir with the desire to work for the people of valley.
Doing journalism is a hard task in today’s world and that difficulty goes to a whole new level when it comes to Kashmir.
Faza’s courage and decision to go out and do journalism in Kashmir is commendable. As for a girl the challenge is somewhat different and this young journalist has taken this head on. She has worked in the field, conducted interviews with people associated with various set ups in Kashmir and along side has tried to bring up important issues in the society and help people.
So far she has worked helped raise issues like drug addiction, suicide cases, and other such problems of the valley.
For Faza it is important that news is brought to people with complete responsibility especially when there is so much fake news going around.
She says people need to be careful about the spread of fake news and in a place like Kashmir where rumor mongering is widespread extra care needs to be taken. The emphasis should be on creating awareness and social impact through news rather than trying to create sensationalism through headlines, she stressed.
Faza has also helped many people through her work, bringing attention to the plight of people in certain sections of society. Along with this she has also strived to bring the feel good stories of many artists to light in Kashmir.
Her dedication and honesty towards her work as well as the authenticity in her stories has already endeared her to the people of Kashmir, who follow her on social media for news and updates which concern the common man.
That is important for Faza as well, as she believes in delivering authentic, unbiased journalism and bring the day to day issues to light which are of importance to the layman.
Faza is steadily becoming an inspiration to young aspiring female journalist students who desire to go out and work in the field and make a telling contribution to the society.
As she continues her work on an upward trajectory, she has created a space for herself in a tough environment which will hold her in good stead moving forward.
With her passion and honesty to work for the society Faza Zainab is on her way to becoming one of the influential voices in Kashmir.
