Parsa Mufti from Bijbehara, Anantnag has become the first Kashmiri to be selected for Schwarzman Scholars, one of the most selective courses and prestigious fellowships in the world.
She is among the only five Indians selected for this prestigious programme this year. Overall she has been selected amongst 151 Scholars from 33 countries and 106 Universities.
Parsa has been selected for the prestigious Fellowship from Tsinghua University in Beijing, China.
Schwarzman Scholars, located at Schwarzman College on the campus of Tsinghua University in Beijing, announced its seventh cohort.
Parsa Mufti is the daughter of senior Forest officer, Sajjad Mufti. She is a former Law student from Amity University,.
Mufti is a lawyer and political strategist, with working experience in the field of human rights law. She is presently working at the Samruddha Bharat Foundation, New Delhi, where she works with leaders across various political parties.
She also heads The Tryst, which has more than 3.9 lakh subscribers on YouTube.
The statement reads that Parsa has been selected among the only five Indian for this prestigious programme this year.
“Schwarzman Scholars has an acceptance rate of only 3%, making it is one of the most competitive scholarships in the world.”
While talking to KNS Parsa said that this was her first attempt and she had started preparing for her application in May. “It took 6 months to prepare a good application. It was quite a tedious journey but in the end the hard work paid off,” she said.
Parsa Mufti said that she is extremely excited to be part of this diverse group of global leaders.
“It is my honour to represent Kashmir on an international level. I hope i will be able to use this platform to make substantive changes in the world. And I hope this encourages more people to apply,” she said.

Schwarzman Scholars is funded by American Billionaire Stephen Schwarzman. Schwarzman Scholars has an acceptance rate of only 3%, making it is one of the most competitive scholarships in the world.
Each year up to 200 future leaders from the US, China and other countries matriculate as Schwarzman Scholars at Tsinghua University in Beijing to pursue Master’s Degree. Scholars chosen for this highly selective program have demonstrated exemplary leadership qualities and the potential to understand and bridge cultural and political differences.

The Schwarzman Scholars Class of 2023, which will enroll in August 2022, is comprised of an exceptional group of individuals, including a Scholar who won NASA’s design competition, a member of the Canadian Prime Minister’s Youth Council, several candidates on the Forbes 30 Under 30 List, a founder of an AI-powered investment platform, a founder of a nonprofit that delivered 20,000 pounds of fresh food to frontline workers during COVID-19, a Scholar recognized as one of the 9 most influential women under 25 in New Zealand, a founder of an AI startup to improve the communication skills of people with autism, a Scholar who founded his own spacecraft systems company at 15, the managing Director of the Oxford Strategy Group among others.
