A video tweeted by Shen Shiwei, a Chinese state TV reporter shows Chinese personnel unfurling their national flag on “New Year’s Day” in Galwan Valley.

The video has been widely shared thus far.

This has created a massive political uproar with opposition demanding answers from Prime Minister for the latest Chinese incursion.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to “break the silence” over Chinese “incursions” in the Galwan region of eastern Ladakh.

The opposition party has been targeting the Modi government over its handling of Chinese incursions in eastern Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh.

“Our tricolour looks good at Galwan. There should be a response to China. Modi ji, break the silence,” Gandhi said on Twitter.

Chinese Incursions

Earlier it was reported that China has renamed 15 more places in India’s northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh, claiming that the southern part of Tibet is an “inherent part” of its territory.

This is the second batch of standardised Chinese names of places in Arunachal Pradesh released by China.

The first batch of the standardised names of six places was released in 2017.

China claims Arunachal Pradesh as South Tibet which is firmly rejected by the External Affairs Ministry which has asserted that the state is an “inseparable part of India”.
