Minister for Health and Medical Education, Choudhary Lal Singh, Thursday denied sharing information on finalization of site for AIIMS in Jammu province. While Muhammad Afzal Bhat, Secretary Revenue Department, said that the sites have been finalized for AIIMS both in Kashmir and Jammu provinces, Choudhary Lal Singh warned Kashmir Headlines ‘not to dig into the things.’ “AIIMS se aapko kya lena dena? What you people have to do with AIIMS,” he told this reporter.

He even said: “You tell me which Secretary is saying that the hospital will be established in Kathua.”

He straightaway denied that the site of AIIMS for Jammu province has been finalized in Kathua district and in Kashmir at Awantipora, as the Revenue Secretary told Kashmir Headlines.

When asked whether the central team that was scheduled to visit state to finalize sites, Bhat said that he has no information about this. “I have no knowledge about the visit of the central team” he said adding Commissioner Secretary Health and Medical Education Department can provide update on this.

However repeated phone calls to contact secretary Health and Medical Education M K Bhandari did not get any response.

The minister has courted many controversies owing to his behaviour.

Soon after taking over as Health Minister when PDP and BJP formed coalition Government in J&K, a female medico, Dr. Gurmeet Kour of Psychiatric Hospital Jammu, had filed a police complaint against him alleging that he misbehaved with her for not wearing apron.

“I was shocked by the use of harsh words and misbehaviour with me in full public view by Lal Singh,” Dr Kour had alleged in the complaint filed against the BJP minister at police station Bakshi Nagar.

Later he was also in news for inappropriately touching the collar of a lady doctor in Lakhanpur.
