A delegation of Senior Party Functionaries of J&K Pradesh Congress Committee led by JKPCC Chief G.A. Mir called on Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in Srinagar today and apprised him on the “extremely turbulent situation prevailing for last 46 days in the valley.”

The delegation apprised Singh on the rising anger among the people in the backdrop of loss of precious lives and injuries to thousands of people.

The delegation also sought immediate ban on Pellet and other types of lethal weapons being used to control protests.

The delegation underlined the need to restore the lost trust and confidence of people, as there was a deep sense of alienation among the people due to the unabated incident of killings and grievous injuries during the protests erupted across the valley.

The delegation urged the Home Minister to order a time bound probe into the killings and excesses committed on people.

The delegation strongly urged the Centre Govt to initiate a comprehensive, meaningful and sustained political dialogue with all stakeholders in the State without any further loss of time.

Emphasizing that the harassment of people, raids and arrests must be stopped immediately, Congress delegation urged the HM that serious efforts should also be made to win back the trust and confidence of the people, besides infusing a sense of security among them.

The delegation also submitted a Memorandum to Union Home Minister.

Those who were part of the delegation included MLC Gulam Nabi Monga, MLA Haji Ab. Rashid Dar Vice Presidents, Chief Spokesperson Ravindar Sharma, MLA Gulzar Ahmad Wani, Treasurer Krishan Kumar Amla, Khemlata Wakhloo, Gulam Nabi Mir Lasjan, Spokesperson Farooq Andrabi, S.S.
