Delimitation Panel on Monday presented its first paper, which includes a proposal for six additional seats for the Jammu region and 1 for Kashmir.
This would take the total number seats in Jammu to 43, and in Kashmir Valley to 47.
9 seats were proposed for ST & 7 for SC. Associate members requested to submit their suggestions by Dec 31.
The delimitation panel has also sought reservations for Kashmiri Pandits who have been demanding a floating constituency seat on the Sikkim pattern.
The commission headed by a former supreme court judge, Justice (retired) Ranjana Desai is responsible for reserving a designated number of seats in a state assembly or the Lok Sabha for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities.
