This is part of beefed up security measures ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to J&K on 23rd October.

Talking to reporters, Deputy Inspector General of CRPF (operations) Mathev A John said that CRPF along with the Police have tested drones that will be used for aerial monitoring of the areas where members of the minority community are living in Kashmir.

After recent attacks on minorities in Kashmir, this added drone surveillance comes into play.

“The step has been taken in the wake of recent attacks on minority community members and non-local labourers,” the DIG CRPF said as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

Along with this Lal Chowk and its surrounding areas will also remain under drone surveillance.
